Small and medium-sized municipal water treatment plants produce less sludge. Taking a municipal water plant with a capacity of 20000 tons per day as an example, the daily production of dehydrated sludge is about 6-10 tons. Due to the limitations of site selection for existing water plants, transportation to long-distance landfills is generally far away, especially in mountainous areas where it is more troublesome. Due to the poor carrying capacity of sludge landfill and secondary pollution, many landfill sites are basically unwilling to recycle or increase disposal costs.
